Reinhard Krischer, author and webmaster of "The Alweg Archives" website, has written the first fully illustrated book (in German) exclusively dedicated to the history of the Alweg Company. The book looks at the history of monorail technology that led up to the development of the Alweg monorail system. It tells the story of the Alweg Company in Germany and the United States. It is the fascinating story of a futuristic rapid transit system that at its inception was way ahead of its time.
The book shows that even though the Alweg Company closed shop in the late 1960s its monorail system is still very much alive and has found a new future in Century 21 for which it was conceived. The Hitachi Company of Japan is successfully continuing the Alweg story with its state-of-the-art monorails in Asia. From the year 2004 on the Las Vegas monorail will keep the Alweg legacy alive with sleek Bombardier trains whose technology is based on the Alweg system. And in Seattle, home of the only surviving Alweg monorail, plans are underway to build America's first city-wide monorail transit system. (After the book was published in 2003 it took the Seattle monorail opposition almost two more years to finally stop the monorail Green Line proposal.)

Im 2003 erschienenen Buch wird über das "Green Line" Einschienenbahn-Projekt in Seattle berichtet, wo die Bürger in mehreren Wahlgängen für ein solches Nahverkehrssystem gestimmt hatten. Die Einschienenbahn-Opposition aber sorgte für so viele weitere Wahlgänge und finanzielle Fehlinformationen, dass schließlich nicht mehr genug Stimmen für das Projekt zu haben waren und das bereits mit dem Ankauf von Grundstücken, etc. begonnene Projekt im September 2005 gestoppt wurde.
